Soul Wars Chapter 1 - Sin Menance
Bible verse:

Romans 6:11-14

11In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. 13Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness.

14For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace.

Question 1: What do desires does inside our hearts?
- It causes a war and struggle insides us against temptation, as we try to overcome sin where we often fail.
- We want to do good deeds and follow God’s will but we often fail and that’s the war we face everyday in our lives.
- We don’t want to sin
- However we kept sinning, but we just want to please God to be good.

Question 2: How do we overcome sin, where the world is filled with it?
- We need to ask ourselves what is the battlefield like in our hearts, when we are fighting against the power of sinning against God.
- The Bible verse (Romans 6:11-14) describes that there is a great conflict between God and the evil inside our hearts.

1. There is a Reign

a. Namely Sin
b. Need to resist evil (sin)

3. Castle is under attack
a. Refers to your body
b. Attacks by Sin
c. Don’t let it reign in your mortal body

4. Subjects in the castle
a. Refers to our desires
b. Sin turns our desire becoming evil

5. Slow surrender of throne

6. Weapons in the castle
a. Refers to the parts of your body
b. It can be capture by Sin, use by enemy (Sin), against you and God.
c. Don’t let Sin against your body parts against you and God (True King)

7. ??
8. Ruling of throne
a. The true ruling of the throne in our hearts is God
b. Sin will always try to topper God out of our hearts

3 Observed learning points
1. God is our true king
a. Our desire and body belongs to God
b. We’re called to be loyal to the God
c. Keep our trust, and obey Him

2. Sin is a power
a. Sin is not simply an act
b. But its also a power, thus we struggle against it as we tend to incline to Sin
c. When sin controls our desires, it affects what we do (our body parts)

3. Desires are not sin in themselves
a. Desires are gifts from God
b. It can be captive by Sin, turning them into traitors
c. It will then seduces us to surrender to sin (listening to evil desires)
d. Traitors (Evil desires) turns us away from God by sinning
e. Examples:
f. Hunger & Gluttony
g. Thirst & Caffeine addiction
h. Sexual desire (meant for reproduction) Lust for pornography, pre-martial sex
i. Sleep (Rest) & Laziness

How this war works?
Sin Captures Our Desires &Lies/Cheats You

After sinning, it feels good for the moment. It brings half true (a lie). However the aftermath, we will feel the guilt and pain of sin.

Sin takes our desires to lie to us. It eventually makes us less peacefully, happy, and closeness to God. Sin is fighting for the throne of your soul. Don’t let sin take control of your desires.

Saint James says that the tongue is the most terrible weapon of our body part. If it is captive by sin, it can do the most terrible and hurtful words to others and it can make a huge impact on the lives of others badly. We need to guard our lips, and do not allow it to fall to sin. Do not let the weapons of our body to be captive by sin, where it destroys us and God.

Conclusion:
· The big issue, who is your true king, who sits on your throne, who controls your life, who you give your life to, who are you submitting to, who are your desire ,listening to, who do you give up your body parts to?
· Is it God or sin?
· Who will you serve?
